5 LEARNING TRENDS IN 2020

Micro-learning:

There is currently a lot of discussion on how education is failing society, people are frustrated with the length of time spent in school, the debt accumulated and yet there are still some gaps in skills required to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving world. I see a future where all unnecessary and lengthy courses will be eliminated, and people will rather go for programs that are short and focused on the skills desired. This will reduce the length of time spent acquiring skills and as a result the cost of education will be reduced.

The Accounting Specialist Accelerated Program is major and skill focused, hence a 2 years accounting program in a regular college has been condensed into a 3 - 9 months focused program. The school also currently uses a blended program style were online trainings are available to students but students still come to a live virtual or face-to-face classroom to receive some lectures and get their questions answered. This is the future of education.

Artificial Intelligence:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming very popular and beginning to be used in online learning platforms. AI will be used to identify skill gaps in students and use to recommend the necessary skills or courses that will be required to take students from where they are to where they want to be academically.

We are partnering with future forward educational innovators to develop programs that will help  identify skill gaps in our students to enable us to recommend customized curriculum that will help bridge individual gaps identified. Our career coaching and interview preparation platform helps our students develop a personalized learning plan to help them focus on improving weaknesses in their interviewing skills for accounting & finance related positions.

Use of recorded video and Live-video:

Video is becoming the preferred method of consuming information. Adverts and communications that include video seem to be consumed more than those without video. Video will also impact education, and will be used more for teaching to increase engagement and collaboration. The use of video will increase with very little resistance as students are already used to watching lesson video

We currently use highly engaging video tutorials as a compliment to our virtual live or in class training.

Universal Design for Learning:

Anyone with good internet connection can have access to an online course in any part of the world. E-courses will be designed for a global and broader audience, so that anyone interested in learning will be able to learn. E-courses will also be designed to accommodate different learning styles.

Mobile Friendly

With people spending more time on their phone than the computer or any other device. E-learning will be designed mainly to be consumed from mobile devices.
